Alas, the dark angel has cast its mantle upon us once more. It is with profound grief and deepest regret that we announce the death of our friend and mentor, Dr. Guillermo "Doc" Lengson on July 18, 2000.

In the passing of Doc Lengson, Bakbakan has not only lost a great mentor and leader, but a cherished and good friend, whose encouragement, counsel, wisdom and warmth meant so much to us over the years. The world of martial arts has lost a pioneer and a leader who gave generously of his knowledge, labor and time. We shall all miss him.

His passing is a great blow to his colleagues and students, for whom intimacy of association added love to the respect accorded him. Those who knew him loved him; the better they knew him the more they loved him.

Doc Lengson now rests in peace, but his noble and resplendent spirit and legacy remains to comfort us. We shall forever treasure his legacy and memory deep in our hearts.
